Ms. Cook is a State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization-certified specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law. She is a California State Bar Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Council and American Immigration Lawyers Association member. She is well-versed in family immigration, waivers, removal defense, consular processing, and asylum law. She has appeared in Immigration Court for dozens and enabled many hundreds to become U.S. citizens and obtain residency. Moreover, Ms. Cook is an accomplished immigration lawyer in Federal Courts, having been the attorney for Castro-Cortez v. INS. 239 F.3d 1097 (9th Cir. 2001), a reinstatement case implicating due process. Ms. Cook graduated from the University of California Hastings College of Law and has been a California State Bar member since 1988. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University, and she has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and the Northern District of California. Furthermore, she is admitted at the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, the Executive Office for Immigration Review and all Immigration Courts, as well as the Board of Immigration Appeals. Having lived in Spain, Colombia, and Honduras for many years, Cook speaks Spanish fluently. Cook has made presentations to the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area and the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and the Bar Association of San Francisco. She has also collaborated with numerous nonprofit organizations and the Mexican Consulate of Fresno in the Central Valley to provide community outreach. She is currently a member of the board of directors of Centro La Familia Advocacy Services.
