American River Canine was founded in 2016 after much support and encouragement from my family and friends and some of the dog trainers I admire. I have dreamed about training dogs since I was a kid. Although my grandmother died, Stella, her German Shepherd dog guide, left her grandmother to live with us until her own death. The dog's ability to sense her surroundings, lead her grandmother, and even communicate with her amazed me, especially considering that I was young and inexperienced at the time. I am so lucky and happy to have three dogs now, with the first two being Mia, a German shepherd dog mix, and Jackson, a pure German shepherd dog working line, both of which are becoming old (about 8). The youngest one is Draco, a Belgian malinois. My wife Allyson and daughter Claire support me and motivate me to take care of my dogs and do what I love for a living. My satisfaction in this job is when I see my clients happy because their dog has overcome a new challenge and learned to connect with them. Over many years of experience, I have come to understand that dogs forget temperament if the owner does. The behavior of your dog will improve with a strong emotional connection. So, if you want your dog to be happy even when you are not around, you need to invest more time not just emotionally fortifying the bond but also in training. For those who prefer a one-on-one, at-home customized dog training approach, I offer private sessions, which live up to your biggest expectations. Each session is customized to you and your pet, to ensure they lead a happy and fulfilled life. I work hand in hand with you and your pets, teaching them how to behave at home and in public while focusing on the proper obedience and socialization. When you depend on my services, your dog will be as happy outside your home as he is inside it. This service costs $170 per session (90 minutes). The private sessions are specifically designed for dogs older than 4 months with problems like behavioral or reactivity problems. This includes general panic attacks, separation anxieties, resource guarding, and dog-human reactivity. A minimum of 5 total sessions should be scheduled initially, but this may increase in case of a severe situation. Private assessment is also required before any training commences.
