JAYJAY is proud of Jones and Jolley's influence in their community as tastemakers. Local galleries remained loyal to the original styles that launched Sacramento into the national spotlight in the '60s. JAYJAY began in 2000 with local artists and their diverse approaches to the area. The gallery showcases an international array of styles, from high modernism (Roger Berry or Mark Emerson) to the postmodern sensibility evident in the abstract work of innovative artists like Dean DeCocker and Joan Moment. Most of these artists, many of whom are abstract, are popular with both long-established corporate and individual collectors and a burgeoning population whose collections mirror their time living in a variety of metropolitan areas. Lynda Jolley and Beth Jones, the founders of JAYJAY, have more than three decades of art-dealing experience. It is a kind of connoisseurship, where top artists are attracted and their work shared with the world. Their dedication to their dream is evident in the people they keep. The gallery has a small group of about twenty highly talented artists who are some of the most recognizable names in the area, representing painting, sculpture, and photography. These artists may have different philosophies, but two facts are common: most are mature artists with numerous, often extensive exhibition histories, and many have a national or regional following.
