From two Sacramento locations and one Stockton location, DDSO is a notable nonprofit that empowers 400 adults with disabilities annually. Functional independence, job training, employment, physical and visual abilities enhancement, visual and performing arts, life skills, socialization, community engagement, healthy relationships, and more. Developmental disabilities originate from a range of chronic severe disorders caused by physical or mental impairments. These diseases include epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome. These limitations are in language, movement, and learning (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, 2018). These disabilities emerge at some point during growth, until age 22. They don’t diminish over time. Today’s life presents a unique and unprecedented opportunity to recognize and respect the independence and accomplishments of individuals with disabilities. These individuals have the right to choose where they spend their time, the people they like, and the activities they participate in. DDSO attempts to help individuals with disabilities achieve their desires by actively seeking jobs, residing in their preferred neighborhood, giving back through volunteerism, and contributing to the world with visual and performing arts activities.
