Ben Bridge Jeweler Samuel Silverman, a highly skilled guild watchmaker, opened the first store in Seattle in 1912. Sam Silverman's daughter Sally married Ben Bridge, and Ben became a partner in the business. Ben acquired Sam's interest in the company and established Ben Bridge Jeweler in California after he left in 1927. Ben's two children, Herb and Bob, opened a branch store in 1950. The brothers opened many stores in shopping malls around the West in the 1960s. The company is managed by Ben's granddaughter Lisa and has grown to include nearly 100 stores in the western United States. Ben Bridge Jeweler became part of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. in 2000, but the company is still family-owned with five generations of Bridges working in the company.
