Jesh has a long history as both a master jeweler and metalsmith. Rosestone, Jesh's real last name, is an English translation from Rosenstein. Rosenstein was in Bavaria a family name for goldsmiths. Family lore has the name traced back to Eastern Russian Alchemist Rabbis, where Rosestone was another name for Alchemist's Stone. This is the formula that transforms lead into gold. There have been generations of metalsmiths from both Jesh and his family. Jesh was born in India to American parents who studied yoga and Eastern philosophy. He soon settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he learned about the culture and art of many societies, from the Mesopotamians, at the beginning of agriculture, through to today. His favorite activity was playing in the forest and he was most fascinated by small things found in nature. He started making model rockets when he was seven years old. He began painting figurines of pewter from his role-playing games at ten. He was thirteen when he began to create complete scenery for Lionel's model trains. Jesh loves to draw. He draws what he sees as well as the imagined things. Jesh took the College of Marin's metalworking elective when he was nineteen to learn more about metal. He discovered a passion and aptitude for metalwork and decided to become a jeweler. Jesh was looking for an apprenticeship, where he learned from half a dozen master jewelers from Russia and Ukraine. The first year of his training was spent cleaning floors, oiling machines and learning basic skills over thousands of hours. Jesh persevered, and in his unique shop, possibly the only one in the nation to produce jewelry using techniques from 1690-1960 exclusively, Jesh developed rare skills in saw-piercing. He also learned how to chase, carve, and hand-engrave. He had been working for thirteen years to reach the top of his trade, making master-steel molds that would be used in new ring designs. Jesh, in his late thirties moved to San Diego for his Bachelor of Science degree. Jesh spent a semester in Paris, where he was able to study 3,000 years worth of fine and decorative art. Jesh received Magna Cum Laude's 2008 diploma and was introduced to a fellow jeweler who encouraged him to start his own business. Jesh established Rosestone Jewelry with the help of a fellow jeweler. He has been transforming client fantasies into art for the past ten years. Jesh creates timeless designs by combining old-world craftsmanship with modern technology.
