Jesh is a seasoned jeweler and metalsmith with a rich history. The English translation of Jesh's real surname, Rosenstein, was a family name for goldsmiths in Bavaria centuries ago. According to family history, Rosestone was an alternate name for the alchemist's stone, a formula that transforms lead into gold. Jesh and his ancestors have been metalsmiths for generations. He spent time with his American parents in India, where he was born and gained his family's insight into Eastern philosophy and yoga. He eventually relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he learned about many cultures and societies, from the Mesopotamians towards agriculture to the present. Jesh was particularly fond of the forest and was always interested in the tiny things in nature. Since he was a child, Jesh has been exploring various hobbies. This included creating model rockets at seven, painting pewter figures for his role-playing games at ten, and making complete scenery for Lionel's model trains at thirteen. Jesh has always loved to draw, both from life and from imagination. When he was 19, Jesh took a metalworking elective at the College of Marin, sparking an interest that led him to become a jeweler (Rosestone Jewelry, n.d.). Jesh was on a quest for an apprenticeship, where he studied under six master jewelers from Russia and Ukraine. The first year dodging work of the apprenticeship required him to clean floors, oil machines, and learn basic skills for thousands of hours. He continued to study, and in his exclusive studio, where he is the sole jeweler nationwide to make things using methods from 1690-1960, Jesh mastered the skill of saw-piercing. He also learned to chase, carve, and hand-engrave. After thirteen years, he became the best, making master-steel molds for new ring designs and moved to Hood River in his late thirties to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree which took him two years. He moved to San Diego and spent the next two years learning French at the Alliance Fran?aise school (Rosestone Jewelry, n.d.). When Jesh spent a semester in Paris, he learned about 3,000 years of fine and decorative art, which deepened his passion for creating art. In 2008, Jesh received his Magna Cum Laude diploma and was encouraged by a fellow jeweler to start his own business (Rosestone Jewelry, n.d.). Jesh collaborated with a fellow jeweler to establish Rosestone Jewelry, where he has been designing timeless pieces that combine old-world craftsmanship with modern technology for over a decade.
