Our school was founded by Phineas, the main founder of the Church of the Nazarene. It is a well-known Christian liberal-arts institution. We are accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. PLNU offers NCAA DII athletics, and it is a Christ-centered community. We are committed to helping all students grow into their best selves. Our institution has over 60 areas of undergraduate study. We also have graduate programs and an adult degree completion program. Over 4,600 students attend our school on our several campuses in San Diego County, Bakersfield, and California. Our Christian liberal-arts university exists to develop students' academic and personal growth. It is not our mission to get you a job after graduation, although we do that. Our mission is to create a responsible, engaged, reflective, and service-minded member of the community. We are here to help you become who you were always supposed to be. We believe students grow when they explore new fields of knowledge in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. We think that growth happens when students seek to serve others and remain open to God's grace as they work through their university experience and their lives, communities, and nations. Our department faculty is known for their scholarly contributions and engaging teaching styles. We are also known for the relationships they build with students, including mentorship, accountability, and support, which are crucial to students' academic, professional, and spiritual development.

Families are proud to send their daughters to the University as the scenery is breathtaking. People are also grateful for the faculty who are doing a good job taking care of the campus and students.
