Kerman Morris Architects LLP was founded in 1994. It is a female-owned small architectural firm certified as a Green Business by the City of San Francisco. The firm believes that the built environment can promote social justice and ecological health. Kerman Morris Architects are committed to excellent design, creating places where people can live with dignity and vitality. The residential development is a primary area of interest. All of our projects are carefully crafted to be sensitive to their settings, creating affordable yet elegant living spaces. Our work also includes infill housing, as well as mixed-use projects. Kerman Morris Architects’ clients value a team that combines a rigorous design aesthetic with a strong understanding of building construction. Kerman Morris Architects works closely with clients to help them realize their dreams. Toby Morris was a carpenter in his youth and conducted research on housing development, affordability, and policy. San Francisco and Boston were the cities where he lived and worked before moving to San Francisco. Toby Morris has also designed homes, multi-family housing, and mixed-use buildings. Toby Morris designed an award-winning affordable housing project that was hailed as the state of California’s most energy-efficient development in 2005. Toby Morris has authored articles in the Institute of Urban and Regional Development on non-profit housing production and the working strategies of Bay Area Nonprofits. Toby Morris has taught UC Berkeley graduate housing design and planning courses. In California, he has an architect license and his experience of over two decades has enabled him to navigate effectively through the complex environmental and neighborhood planning regulations in San Francisco.
