Overview

Overview started because we wanted to make something that would positively impact manufacturing for decades. We had worked at Tesla for about 13 combined years and were close to some of the best technology on the planet. While building the Tesla Gigafactory, we found that the data we required on the products and processes we were manufacturing was often difficult or impossible to find. Despite factories being some of the richest visual environments on the planet, there was no good method to capture and analyze the thousands or millions of things happening on the ground each minute. The outcome was costly quality mistakes, preventable downtime, and a continuous battle to understand the reasons things failed and how to avoid them in the future. Some of the founders had more backgrounds in industrial automation and were frustrated by the absence of simple-to-use and easy-to-get inspection systems.
