Arthur Thompson completed his training at the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Thompson Funeral Home opened its doors in Oakland on December 25, 1969. Thompson wanted to open a funeral home that would focus on the two most important aspects of death: the emotional and the physical. Funerals, inurnments, and entombments are related to the physical aspect, whereas working with families to create transformational and healing experiences is related to the emotional aspect. This internal and serene environment permits individuals to gain serenity, happiness, and rejuvenation, which is highly satisfying.
