About this business
Owners Jim & Linda Theiring established the AVAC Swim School(r) with a borrowed outdoor pool in 1964. AVAC(r), as it is now known, was acquired in 1974 by the Theirings and pals Joe Shank, JoAnn Shank, and Linda Theiring. He began with an outdoor swimming pool and a sports campus. There were 26 years of swimming classes in this pool (AVAC Swim School, n.d.). They decided to build a state-of-the-art Open Aire facility to teach swimming year-round. This was their passion, and it was passed on to Jim and Linda's kids.
Parent-Tot 1 (8 weeks – 5 months): This course is designed for young AVAC(r) babies aged 4 to 36 months (AVAC Swim School, n.d.). Each baby will be accompanied by an adult in the water at a ratio of six to one student: teacher. Parent-tot courses are organized by age to improve child growth in an aquatic setting. Our extremely qualified teachers lead parents in standard songs and activities that will gradually train them to develop comfort with their child and swim effectively.
