About this business
FDTC
Fremont Dog Training Club is a non-profit corporation that is operated by its club members. Our purpose is to promote our dogs, as well as ourselves, to be better community individuals. FDTC is based in the Bay Area and is an affiliate of the American Kennel Club and the Association of Obedience Clubs of Northern California. Each year, our organization organizes an AKC-sanctioned obedience & rally trial. FDTC members and participants in training classes can take Canine Good Citizen tests (CGCs) throughout the year. All breeds of dogs, including mixed and purebred, are accepted into FDTC. All classes are provided at the FDTC training facility. Read more about our classes on the Training Classes page. Each individual class is intended to teach specific obedience exercises. We also offer advice to eliminate bad behaviors, such as digging, chewing, and barking. PRAISE AND REWARDS are used to promote beneficial reinforcement.
Beginning Class
This class is designed to teach the owner how to teach their dog. Class sizes vary between 8-15 people. We limit class sizes to enhance the educational experience. Individual attention can be given as needed. Dogs over 4 1/2 months should take this 6-week course. All training is performed on a leash. This is a particularly appropriate course for inexperienced dog trainers or dogs that have undergone no formal training. Standard obedience commands and socialization with other dogs will be included in this first course. Sit, Sit/Stay, Down, Down/Stay, Heel, Come, and Sit for Exam will all be covered.
