We believe in lifting a cup, whether it's from an established or emerging coffee-growing area. Originally a convenience store, Phil opened his first Philz in San Francisco's Mission District in 1978. He spent the next 25 years blending and perfecting his signature cup of coffee. Philz Coffee was founded on January 1, 2003, in San Francisco's Mission District. Our love for coffee blending and community was the driving force behind our establishment. The labor of passion found in San Francisco quickly became a love affair across California, Chicago, and beyond. Our roasting plant in Oakland, CA, specializes in creating customized coffee blends from sustainably sourced green beans worldwide.
