Joseph Steinberg started an Office Supply Business in Jersey City in 1935. In 1949 Joseph moved to Hollywood, Florida, where he launched the Decora Steel City Group Office Furniture Store in Jersey City. In the 1970s, Decora was among the largest manufacturers of office furniture in this country. Decora's reputation was based on how well our furniture was built. So, when Herman Miller decided to stop manufacturing office furniture, Decora was the main company it chose to feature in its showrooms. Shortly thereafter, the Miami Showroom and Factory were sold to the Tampa based Company, Tampa Office Equipment, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the early 1980s. In 1987, the Marcus family opens a new Miami Airport District Showroom that includes warehousing and factory.
