In Colombia, my childhood first came to light. My best friend, whose dad worked in their small shopping shop, allowed me to play with her. I was fascinated by the noise coming from the workshop. The kind of noise was unexplainable and could be heard through the parent’s bedroom. He was remarkable in creating amazing pieces of jewelry. It was exciting to see the gold bars, wires, and colored stones; he would start with these but end up with exceptional results. Whenever we were playing, I would sneak into the workshop and sit in a quiet place. It was always a breath-taking scene watching the transformation of the material. As time went by, my dad, who owned a taxi, made friends with my friend's dad. Their friendship became stronger, leading to my dad’s visit to the small shop. My dad soon began selling jewelry from the small shop place he worked. My dad was earning more, and that helped me know the process at large.
My dad would take the material order from the customer. Then he would choose his own design and explain to the jeweler how he wanted it. This could be the first step to get to the design stage, then to the production stage, and finally, the final product was unveiled.
