Shane-cuts Inspiration Barber Shop was established by Oswashane Fletcher (Shane) in 2014. Shane had started cutting hair professionally since 2001. He usually cut his own hair to supplement his income, but on some occasions cut his close family and friends' hair. His friends and clients often admired the quality of his haircut and sometimes questioned why he was not a barber. He would reply by saying that he enjoys cutting hair and will not go to the Barbershop until he can create its supportive environment to change the society. Shane realized an opportunity in September 2015 to make a great deal on a lovely surprise as a new Barbershop building was available for purchase. Beauty/Barber Industry owner of the property was leaving and hoped to give the opportunity to a Barber who had a clear vision and could do well. Shane has a well-defined business plan, but he lacks resources and other key elements needed to benefit from this opportunity. The two main problems he faced were that he had no financial resources to make the purchase, and all customers were on the far side of town, creating a hustle for him to get them to the new location. Shane was unbreakable and motivated to buy the space and start his first barbershop. Shane-cutS Inspiration Barber Shop opened its doors on October 16, 2015, after he had made efforts to fundraise, done extensive networking, and gotten support from his family.
