This has been my experience: solar panels installed on 12/19/2022, batteries installed on 02/10/2023. As of 03/09/2023, they still are not hooked up to the PUD. Soon my solar panels will have been generating power for the air for three months. Energy generated that I will never get back.

This calculator sizes a solar system from your electricity use. Your monthly bill, divided by the average Florida electricity price, gives your yearly use; Florida's sunshine (1,455 kWh per kW of panels a year) then gives the system size that covers it, adjusted for roof direction and shade. The installed price is that size multiplied by the price per watt homeowners in Florida pay installers. Payback compares that price with what the panels save at Florida power prices, assuming prices rise 3% a year.

- $1.80–$2.44 per watt in Florida (typical $2.12), before rebates. A typical 6 kW home system costs $10,800–$14,600.
- Sunshine
- 1,455 kWh of electricity per kW of panels a year in Florida.
- Electricity price
- About 15.3¢ per kWh, the average residential price in Florida.
- Selling power back
- Full retail net metering: power you send to the grid earns a credit at about the price you pay for it.
- Rebates and tax credits
- The 30% federal tax credit for buying solar ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025. Leases and power purchase agreements can still carry a federal credit through the installer for systems in service by the end of 2027.
