About Dixie Paint & Body Shop, Inc.
Welcome to Dixie Paint & Body Shop, a neighborhood institution that has proudly served the Tampa Bay Community for almost a century. In 1921, Guiseppe, an Italian from Sicily, and his two children came to the United States and began working on cars at the garage at 36th Street and Central Avenue. They had proper success and began the store on Main Street in 1926. In 1926, there were only 5 or 6 shops in all of Tampa, and they all painted cars with brushes. Angelo Traina, Jr., the third generation, runs Dixie today, and his children and nephews are running it now or starting to. Angelo began working for Dixie a little over 10 years of age. All of Angelo's children and nephews worked at Dixie over one summer or another. We mean it when we say Your Family in the Body Shop Business. Angelo, Sr. started the tradition of starting every day and closing with Cuban bread and coffee from La Segunda Bakery, and Angelo, Jr. continues to this day.
