Their hair follicles have cycles of growth, and the anatomical area is treated while their hair follicles are in their anagen phase to kill and permanently reduce the hair growth. Unfortunately, only a certain percentage of follicles will be in the anagen phase at the same time, and all the follicles are treated with each appointment. This percentage changes depending on the individual's skin, hair type, and hormones. Some people will see results after their first treatment, but this is uncommon. We usually tell patients to expect a 6 to 10 treatment series to seek permanent hair reduction. We commonly expect 8 to 10 in the more hormonal areas. Once this series of treatments is completed, we recommend maintenance touch up treatments about once or twice a year as needed.
