The Alan Avery Art Company was opened in 1981 in a downtown warehouse on Trinity Avenue. The gallery was initially known as Trinity Gallery. In 1991, the gallery moved to the Buckhead district of Atlanta, where it has been based for 40 years. The Alan Avery Art Company is the oldest continuously operating art gallery in Atlanta. The gallery represents fascinating, technically proficient emerging, mid-career, and internationally renowned artists. Notable artists featured include Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dine, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Kipniss, Donald Sultan, Chuck Close, Louise Nevelson, Helen Frankenthaler, and Kara Walker.
