Founded in the year 1970, GSU Ernest G. Welch School Of Art & Design is among the top venues for visual arts in Atlanta. The gallery boasts an international, national artist roaster, local and regional artists, Georgia State alumni, student, and faculty work. The gallery program is packed with panel discussions, workshops, and lectures to offer students suitable machinery for close engagement with artists and professionals. B.F.A. MSFA. Students showcase their thesis work in the Welch School galleries. Cage Space & Gallery 650, two student-run galleries, are part of the school. Cage Space, a gallery with a view located at Edgewood or Piedmont avenues showcasing art created by Art Student Union. Gallery 650 is situated on the top landing of the institution's sixth floor, and it has white walls. The space aids student organizations and courses in their profession by offering them a critique space or a place for the work to be showcased, documented, or prepared.
