Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA) is an architectural, planning, and interior design company headquartered in the Near North office of Chicago. Inception In 1987, HPA has developed a deep catalog of design interpretations created with a shared sensibility toward placemaking. Our clients and we work together to create engaging, unique, and enlightening design interpretations. The design landscape of any project is without a doubt a place that has never been done before. And, our creative team must engage with the landscape and reflect on the individual characteristics of each project to create timeless, inspired architecture. The Company's Process We engage in a strict protocol when we engage in projects. We don't start simply with the intended use of a project. Instead, we start with the history and geography of a location. Strengths and patterns in the place can be used to derive design ideas for buildings that feel right at home. All HPA buildings are authentic in their space.
