Founder Kimberly Espich has always been passionate about aesthetics, joking, “I’ve always wanted to be a doctor.” Her grandfather even let her style his hair. She went to Indiana University for her business degree and got a public affairs certificate. To give her clients the most effective treatments, she went back to school for an aesthetics diploma.
Kim’s first dream job was at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, where she received a lot of training and got to use the best products. At some point, she knew she wanted to open her own boutique. Her small Lincoln Park, Kurr Chicago, clinic attracted a lot of regulars. As more people came in, Kim saw some celebrities, including Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, and a group from Oprah Winfrey, who loved it and gave Kim the chance to work at Oprah’s spa.
Kim knew she had to go back to Indiana to be close to her family. Kim said, “I never thought I’d be commuting to work from Indiana!” “But it was worth it. Great people, amazing facilities, products, and an ever-changing, exciting environment, thanks to Oprah. You just never know who you’re going to run into on any given day.” Unfortunately, the spa closed after two years of watching Oprah every day. Kim said, “It was a great job, but now it was time for me to move on.
