Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary underwent a relocation transition from Marian University's original campus to its present campus. The facility was initially occupied by the declining and aging Carmel of the Resurrection nuns. The Carmelite nuns were diminishing in numbers and increasing in age by then. They made a brave and faith-driven decision. The Archdiocese of Indianapolis bought the land, and the Carmelites moved into a new building located at the Franciscan Sisters of Oldenburg (Indiana) motherhouse. The Archdiocese then relocated the Seminary to Marian University’s location. After moving from Marian University in 2009, it has taken over the nuns' buildings and land. This change marks a 57-year-old journey. Two dormitories were added to the initial buildings. Their staff and seminarians moved in during the mid-2000s. This hall is used for seminary family dinners and common meals. It is also used for formation workshops, community meetings and community events. St. Bonaventure Hall is used for the seminary family, with staff and students living there. The faculty and student community at Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary thank the Almighty for building, grown, and prospered this seminary. Our school’s history and what we are becoming are always influenced by the legacy of the Carmelites.
