Indianapolis Art Center strengthens the community through art. It provides over 300 camps and classes annually, six contemporary art exhibitions in its six galleries, and a community outreach initiative that aims to bring art to those who are underserved. In 1990, the company started in garages as art studios with stoves and "potbelly" stoves to “prevent models having goosebumps" (William Kaeser). People remember Floyd Hopper, who was part of the faculty for many years. Floyd and Kaeser were both WPA (Work Progress Administration) artists who had a significant influence on the formation and growth of the Art Students League. Otto Stark, Elmer Taflinger. Steele and other artists’ influence is documented in the Indianapolis Art League, which was run by artists for 26 years and used community spaces for exhibition and workspace. The Indianapolis Art Center is a prominent cultural landmark, and also part of the city's cultural identity. The Indy Art Center collaborates with local artists, cultural organisations, and community groups to create a vibrant central Indiana arts community.

The Indianapolis Art Center offers a mix of art courses, exhibitions, and events. Visitors call it an amazing place, especially praising the art instructors and the sculpture garden. There are plenty of great photo opportunities in the garden since there is no entrance fee. The center also has inviting exhibits and a welcoming trail, providing both indoor and outdoor experiences. The experience was completely free and worth it according to some reviewers. Many visitors seem unfamiliar with the organization but loved their experiences so far. The center's facilities were a perfect place to take a break, walk around, and learn new things, whether it's for the next concert, charity event, or exhibition. The Indianapolis Art Center offers a variety of solutions that can be understood and supported by their products.
