Schmidt Associates welcomed a design firm from Louisville in January 2020. Now known as Arrasmith, a Schmidt Associates Company, it directs the Healthcare Studio. The combined company has a 130-year history and has served clients in 27 states and seven countries, including Turkey, India, and Pakistan. Our architects and engineers serve as servants under clients and strive to meet and understand their goals. We reflect the client's vision, not ours, ensuring that clients achieve the desired results. Our company provides Architecture, Engineering, and Energy, and Interior Design and Construction Administration services. We have studios focusing on K-12, Higher Education. Workplace, Community, Lifestyle, Healthcare, and Health. In 1926, Herman Wischmeyer and William Arrasmith founded Wischmeyer & Arrasmith—two architects very recognized at the time in Louisville—located in Louisville, KY. In 1950, William was known for Greyhound buses across the country, which is an Art Moderne Style of the architectural style. He also played a significant role in the design of Bowman Field, the first commercial airport in Louisville, the iconic 800 Building, and many other landmarks across the city. In 1960, the company began its crucial role in healthcare design with the construction of the Methodist Evangelical Hospital. Then, the company worked with numerous health systems in Kentucky by designing the state's first LEED certified research building, University of Louisville Clinical & Translation Research Building. The first LEED-certified hospital in the state U of L Health South was also built.
