Louise S. McGehee School

Louise S. McGehee School is a private girls' school in New Orleans that provides a forward-thinking education. Our early childhood, preschool, and lower school programs are all-girls and coeducational, non-denominational. We also provide high-caliber academics for high school girls who meet our entrance requirements. We accept students from Algiers and other areas, including Gentilly Lakeview Marigny Metairie Midcity River Ridge Uptown Westbank. There is no discrimination based on race, religion, or nationality. Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade girls in general music classes combine vocal music, music reading and performance skills through a progressive spiral curriculum. As a vocal/choral-centered program, Upper School Performing Arts celebrates the voice, as well as our theater electives and performance opportunities for girls. We also emphasize the cultural, historical, and social importance of music to our students at each grade level. Girls at McGehee play instruments as part of their Performing Arts curriculum.
