The KCAI Gallery Center for Contemporary Practice began in Crossroads District in 2016 and relocated to Tony Jones Studios on the KCAI campus. The gallery supports the mission and goals of the school by involving students, faculty, and community members in curriculum-based collaborations. The new campus gallery is a visible representation of these efforts. These initiatives include curated exhibitions, screenings, residency events, readings, discussions, and lectures. The gallery and related initiatives are areas that promote critical thinking, thought, and dialogue on social problems and global issues impacting the world. The KCAI Gallery will collaborate with every department and establish new alliances. The central position of the KCAI Gallery will allow for a more collaborative and integrated setting for students. It also provides a new public destination positioned among high-quality art institutions, such as H&R Block Artspace, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
