People of Color are not welcome at this Treatment Center, and during my very short time there, their staff failed to make sure I felt comfortable settling into their treatment program. Their staff was unwelcoming, unfriendly, and embarrassingly lacking in Diversity (which is quite a shame being it's the year 2023). I was only a client there for 3 days before I was told I was being discharged based off a staff vote whether I should stay or not.
I had expressed my concerns about the staff in one of their group therapy sessions, and I had planned on speaking to someone in their Administrative Positions about the way I had been treated by the staff. I was prepared to speak to someone because I took notes and wanted to be clear on what I was experiencing. Before I even got a chance to speak to someone, a few members of their technical staff fabricated stories about me and my behavior trying to make it seem like I was the problem when in fact, they were unwelcoming, unfriendly, and lacked in Social Skills. So I was told that I was being discharged based on lies mentioned by their staff about me.
As I was being told about me being discharged, a middle-aged white man with short black hair and receding hairline came up to me, verbatim told me to "pack my sh*t and get out of their facility". I asked him who he was, He said he was the owner of the facility, I asked for his name and he said it was Russ and when I asked for his last name, he said that I was such a smart a** that I could "figure it out on my own". After that, one of their staff members named Daniel tried to say that I was caught on Camera "taunting" the staff members, and when I asked him what physical behaviors involve taunting someone, He could not give an answer, he got frustrated and also told me to "pack my sh*t and get out of their facility".
This review is being written online because the staff and higher-ups at this Treatment Center failed to get my side of the story and they failed to take my feelings into consideration. Take note that I did not initially reach out to this Center seeking treatment, they got my information from another Treatment Center in Charlotte and they asked me if I was still interested in seeking treatment... I never called them begging to enter their program, they reached out to me, they called me multiple times to see if I was interested in joining their treatment program.
They knew I was homeless, sleeping on the streets of uptown Charlotte before coming into their program, and that still didn't stop them from lying on my character, showing inhumane treatment to a person they were discharging, and dropping me off at a nearby QuikTrip gas station with all my belongings including my suitcase and a big duffle bag.
The way I was treated at Carolina Center for Recovery in Charlotte, NC is the absolute worst experience I've ever had being a patient at a Recovery Treatment Center. If I could give them 0 or negative stars on this review, I absolutely would. I would not recommend anyone going to this treatment center, spending their hard earned money or insurance benefits on this treatment center, and I absolutely would not recommend this treatment center to People of Color struggling Addiction, Substance Abuse, and Mental Health issues.
