Charlotte School of Ballet

Since 1968, Charlotte School of Ballet was established by Gay Porter. It was the first classical dance studio in Charlotte. This school offers an elite pre-professional program that has sent dancers to some of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world, such as New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and San Francisco Ballet. Our school has given scholarships for students to go study at places like David Howard's, Luigi's, UNCSA, USC, and Harvard Dance, just to name a few. Charlotte School of Ballet also trains dancers to work with contemporary companies like Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Alvin Ailey. Our dancers have also gone on to have careers in Broadway and Television. Our dancers have been accepted to prestigious summer programs throughout the United States. Charlotte School of Ballet training produces dancers who are strong and versatile, able to adapt to all styles of dance. In order to keep up with the current demands of today's dancers, students are encouraged to learn not only ballet but also modern, tap, hip-hop, and jazz.
