I’m disabled and walk with a cane. The employee there told me not to park in the designated disability parking, because the delivery truck “needed” the entire row of disability parking, never mind that part of getting a CDL to drive those trucks is a physical to prove the driver doesn’t have the kind of health concerns I have. I informed the employee that it was legally reserved for disabled customers, and she told me that if I tried, the truck would back right up to my car and I wouldn’t be able to get back out. So since the next closest open space was farther than I could walk without pain, I couldn’t shop at all. I tried to talk to the people at the store and got nowhere, so I got a local disability advocate to call. She got a hold of someone at corporate, who proceeded to yell at her and claim I was lying about the whole thing. I’ve done everything I can to resolve this in a civil manner, but my next step is a federal ADA complaint. Don’t shop at places that openly discriminate.
