I love the fact that my input and my imprints were all over the production process. They also exercised a lot of patience as I had many questions throughout the process. I love the fact that they have flexible payment options making the burden of payment lighter for new authors like me. Overall, I had a great experience with Cary Press. Will definitely be returning for my next book. 9. I am a first time author. Alex White, my author guide, was simply just incredible! I really enjoyed communicating with her twice each week. Alex, a true professional with class, made me feel like a family member of CaryPress. Thank you Alex, as my dream has come true, this was a wonderful publishing experience! I will highly recommend CaryPress! 10. CaryPress was a good ghostwriting and publishing experience for me. They patiently worked with me and corrected anything on their end. During the galley review process, as well as make my overall publishing experience a good one. There are other companies out there who use highly aggressive sales tactics on their authors. CaryPress never did that to me. Overall, they were helpful without being pushy or intrusive. 11. Professionalism at its finest. If you like correspondence via emails, and I do. My Author Guide is responsive and is very knowledgeable about the process. I just finished my second book with the company; I wouldn't go anyplace else. CaryPress is available by phone also, if that is your style. I paid for expedited services ($199.00) for both my memoir and the first book was released within 3 weeks of paying the fee. I submitted my memoir online, once I paid for services, the entire process is handled online. After the book was formatted, a sample copy was sent and I was able to read the book from start to finish and fix/correct any errors. Once submitted the corrections were made, and another sample of the book was sent. I was able to make more correction if needed. This is the final step, and the book will be ready for print. Like I said 100% professionalism. Namaste, Judith 12. This will review will serve an as official notice to Cary Press Publishing to please cease and desist harassing both my husband and I. Please do not post any further response alleging that staff was harassed or threatened because they are false. Any further correspondence by your company to include any reviews that are not directly related to the refund you promised (See Attached documentation) upon cancellation of our agreement will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement officials for investigations. Both my husband and I are disabled military veterans that risked our lives to ensure the stability and safety of the citizens of the United States of America. To be treated like dogs, is saddening and disappointing. I find their responses to our reviews to be very distasteful and tainted in content. The allegations are appalling and are considered defamation of Character which is punishable in a court of law. Cary Press did not receive any threats from either my husband nor I. The owner, Maggie Bassett was very unprofessional and instead of trying to resolve the issue and gauge what was happening, she simply sent me an attacking email (See attached). This was very unethical and very unprofessional. The agreement does not state that the company can keep all monies paid if THEY choose to cancel the agreement. (See Attached). Then to block a consumer after they have paid you money seems personal moreso than professional. As consumers, our ultimate goal was to amicably resolve the issues that were presented not to create any additional issues. The staff at Cary Press was not very knowledgeable nor did they provide clear explanations when questions were asked of them, hence the 96 email EXCHANGES between both parties. The last 6 emails stated that if Cary Press refused to refund our money that we would be reporting them to the BBB, our local news channel, and the authorities. As a publishing company, it is my expectation that the staff is trained in formatting and manuscript development. That is not my area of expertise. I rely on my publishing company to advise me on changes that need to be made in a timely fashion not as they see fit. I never refused to pay for any services, I simply asked for clarification of charges being assessed. i.e. Alex, emailed me requesting that I pay an additional $165.00 for the manuscript to be resized AFTER they received my final payment on 05/03/19. I submitted a 5 x 8 book cover, updated synopsis, and manuscript on 04/29/19. With that being said, why would the manuscript be formatted 5.5 x 8.5? That makes no logical sense. Additionally, why would Cary Press wait until after the final invoice was paid to request additional money? After Cary Press received our final payment and blocked all further communication with us, we were left with no other choice but to seek additional assistance to request the refund of monies paid. We attempted to contact Cary Press and members of the staff working on our project via facebook on 16 separate occasions to inquire about the refund (No Response) The text message sent to Morgan was in response to an ignored phone call from Cary Press that was then followed by a text message from Morgan. Which was very unprofessional. Lastly, it is very unfortunate that we were not able to reach a feasible resolution with this company. It is is our hope that other authors do not have this same experience. Cary Press please refrain from posting any further allegations and/or lies with regard to my husband Vincent Burruss and I, Katrina Fordham. We have not made any further contact with your company since we were blocked on 05/04/19. This matter is now being handled by the appropriate officials and any further correspondence should be sent via the BBB and/or law enforcement. Again, we are PUBLICLY asking you not to contact Katrina Fordham or Vincent Burruss in any manner whatsoever to INCLUDE review responses. ANY further correspondence from this point forward outside of the proper chain will be deemed as harassment and will be reported to Law enforcement. 13. So my wife wrote a review in which I was implicated as threatening! Well let me get things clear because apparently Cary Press is really trying to change the narrative! They are unprofessional from our view point and the address in which they claim to work from isn’t accurate. I understand the email back and forth from my wife but to categorize as you have is honestly piss poor especially from a woman that is supposed to be a God fearing person. I only asked that someone speak to me to get an understanding of what was going on and instead of returning my call I got a text message from Ada. I then stated I don’t understand how I call and no one answers and I get a text message in return and that I would just stop by. If I spend money with someone and I don’t get answers that I’m looking for as a consumer I have a right to stop by, call or email to get the appropriate understanding if not, cancel the service and get a refund. I sent an email regarding just that nothing more. For the life of me I can’t understand me saying I will just stop by how that is a threat...but maybe the viewers need to read it for themselves... please kindly point out the threat...and anyone not believing or thinking this thread is altered please contact me and I will gladly forward this email. As a 100% Disabled Vet money I earned shouldn’t just be taken because the need is felt and the situation may have been a difficult one! Hello Mrs Maggie Yesterday I read an email in which you sent my wife regarding services that were supposed to be rendered by your company. In that email you stated you were canceling the contract and would only be returning 50% of the money paid as well as blocking her from calling. Also it stated that I had harassed your employees. Now all of this is problematic because if I pay you for service I expect service to be rendered, and if I need better understanding of what the services are those questions should be answered in detail as to make sure, I the consumer, have a understanding if I’m confused in anyway! That’s business...and I don’t do emails I don’t do phone calls, I like to do face to face so me dong this here is a stretch, it’s a good tool but face to face is always better, hence me saying I’ll just come by to cut down on the confusion and cut out all the back and forth. I mean when you have $1300 dollars of my money I’m going to stay on top of it, as a business owner I’m sure you would agree. Now to say you’re going to keep 50% of money paid without rendering service in that amount by law is stealing. You’re company has a great reputation from what I can tell and I’m sure in this day in age with social media and so on you don’t want or need negative press. So all I’m trying to do as I was trying to do earlier is be a voice of reason and get a better understanding. I tried to stay on the sideline but my money is involved now, and to have it seemingly taken from me doesn’t sit very well. So between me and you provide me an detailed invoice of services rendered we will gladly pay for that and refund the rest of my money and we will go our separate ways. I noticed on your email a biblical verse, so I’m guessing you’re a God fearing woman, so as such no matter the difficulty you face in a client or potential client you’re supposed to walk and act in a Godly manner. You’re verse said you will reap what you sow, that’s a pretty strong verse especially in these circumstances. I look forward to your response, the invoice and the refund of the money. God bless!
