The Safety and Health Council of North Carolina began in 1960 as the Citizen's Safety Association of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Inc. The Citizen's Safety Association started as a local organization addressing traffic and community safety in the greater Charlotte area. The National Safety Council chartered CSA as a local Chapter to serve Mecklenburg County. The Association, a lengthy United Way operation, assumed. We offer an interactive course that involves students in creating a plan to improve driving behavior and personal responsibility. The adage that the attitude of a driver is reflected in their behavior is highlighted. The lessons taught during the course are intended to make students realize that their choices affect their driving and ought to take ownership of their safe driving (Safety and Health Council of NC, n.d.).
