Budget Car Rental Las Vegas

Never rent a car from Budget Car Rental in Las Vegas as they charge you a drop off fee even when it's not warranted. I picked up a car from Budget Car Rental in Las Vegas on January 14, 2024 and experienced a car problem when I was driving to Salt Lake City. Budget’s Roadside Assistance told me to exchange the car in Salt Lake City which I had to do twice. After I returned the car to Las Vegas on January 20, 2024, they overcharged me $362.89. They claim it was for a drop-off charge for the car exchanges in SLC even though it was caused by their car problem. I disputed the charge because Budget’s Roadside Assistance, their Budget location in Salt Lake City, and their Avis location in Salt Lake City did not advise me that a drop-off charge would be assessed on car exchanges (even if caused by their car problem) and they did not advise me that an authorization from Budget Las Vegas was needed to do the exchange. Budget in Las Vegas refused to reverse the drop-off charge and refund me the $362.89 because they said they are “a privately owned location and not a corporate location”. Regardless of which location “owns” the car, we rented a Budget car and expect that when there is a car issue, it will be resolved by any location bearing the Budget name, without undue negative impact on a customer like me. I also contacted the Budget Customer Service Contact Center to plead my case. I first brought the problem to the attention of Budget Las Vegas on February 22nd and it’s now March 21st and the problem has still not been resolved to my satisfaction.
