At Barasch & McGarry, the first Victim Compensation Fund was created following the WTC attack. Compensation was provided to those hurt at a crash site on 9/11 during or soon after. Mayor Bloomberg apologized for the negligence and admitted the existence of toxicants from Ground Zero, leading to the detective's death.
