The Shop at the Goods
For The Study - West Village
Summary of Customer Feedback:
1. 1-Star – Absolutely Disappointing Experience at Goods
For The Study - West Village
I really wanted to love this shop. The window display is beautiful and inviting, I hoped to discover new favorites after a one-hour commute. Unfortunately, the experience inside was one of the worst customer service encounters I’ve had in a long time.
For a specialty shop catering to fountain pen and journaling enthusiasts, the utter lack of basic courtesy, product enthusiasm, or willingness to help was shocking (specifically the woman with blonde hair). Beautiful displays and curated stock mean little when staff treat customers like interruptions. If the people inside treat customers like an inconvenience, people will stop coming back
I’ve since seen similar complaints from others, so this isn’t isolated. I won’t return, and I’ll happily direct my business to other NYC shops (like Fountain Pen Hospital, Yoseka, or Kinokuniya) where customers are genuinely welcomed and assisted.
Extremely disappointed. 1/5

3. Went looking for a high-end pen, the condescending attitude was enough for to make a quick exit.
4. Small shop but BIG PERSONALITY; it's a quaint place but they did have all the things I'd look for like: posters, fountain ink, pens/markers, books/journals, and knickknacks. It's important to note that they are heavily stocked (maybe 45% of the store) in gift cards which was interesting.

6. Beautiful store, wonderful staff incredibly helpful and patient. Little bit pricy but definitely feel like it’s worth it.
