Samaritan Daytop Village: Over 50 Years of Helping People Transform Their Lives The idea of Samaritan Daytop Village began with a community effort to meet the needs of teens who were losing their way. Today, we have grown into one of the largest human service agencies in the city, with over 60 locations in all five boroughs. We provide a variety of services, including shelters, substance abuse treatment, and supportive housing. We also offer peer recovery services and programs that cater to the specific needs of veterans, seniors, their families, and older adults. Samaritan Daytop Village is open to all who require our services. We believe that every person who enters our programs has the potential to create a ripple of success that will last a lifetime. Hundreds of Samaritan Daytop members return from our programs each year as productive and contributing citizens of their communities. Addiction can only be overcome by finding peace with oneself and others. Our services include evidence-based residential and outpatient treatment, detoxification services, and mental health services. We also offer medication and other medical services for individuals who struggle with addiction. Samaritan Daytop Village opened the first program for veterans with substance abuse or post-traumatic stress disorder. Three veterans' residential treatment centres are now operating, with one exclusively for female veterans. Substance abuse or homelessness can cause families to break down. Our integrated services keep families together and improve their overall health and well-being. We help families who are homeless or near homelessness find housing and support. Samaritan Daytop Village offers shelter, residences for families and single adults, and rehabilitation programs for men and women. Our goal is to help people build their skills and connect them with the resources necessary to achieve their independence. We are expanding our permanent housing program to allow individuals and families to rent homes at prices they can afford.
