Meet the Gatanas Family, the third-generation garden sellers of New York City. In East Harlem, Aspasia Gatanas was born. She is Dimitri and Calliope Gravanis' daughter. In these photos, Dimitri is shown at his shops on Madison Avenue and East 89th Street, circa 1959. Urban Garden Center is New York City's premier garden supplies and plant sales store. The largest garden center in the whole city is Urban Garden Center. There are 20,000 square feet of outdoor space between East 116th Street, Park Avenue, and under the Metro North Railroad. It is next to a 6-minute walk from the 6 train and three blocks from the 2/3 train. We have customer parking; you do not need to drive around and search for parking! We are Green! Urban Garden Center maintains an off-site compost which we sell! We are an eco-friendly garden center. Our goal is to provide locally grown andorganic garden plants and supplies. Garden Design, Garden Maintenance, and Garden Installation are offered by Urban Garden Center in the Metro New York region.
