Ashland College was established in 1878. The name Ashland University was adopted on May 12, 1989, for an institution. It changed to Ashland University on May 12, 1989. The institution consists of four colleges, which are College of Arts & Sciences, Dauch College of Business & Economics, Schar College of Education and Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Graduate, Online and Adult Studies, the Founders School for Continuing Education, and Ashland Theological Seminary are also included. The University strives to be an excellent institution that values each person. Our slogan, “Accent on Individual,” reflects the character and culture of campus life. It means that we are committed to providing a high-quality education in the classroom and laboratory and creating a supportive and challenging environment for students (Ashland University, 2017). Every Ashland University employee is committed to making the ideas contained in the Mission Statement a daily reality. This means that each Ashland University employee regularly exhibits the Mission Statement in their work environment, classrooms, residence halls, and all teaching sites. The Mission Statement can only be realized if every Ashland University employee strives to maintain it so that it reflects who we are and what we will be in the future (Ashland University, 2017).
