Biography of Clift C. Dempsey
Clift C. Dempsey, CCFE, CCrE, is a third-generation funeral professional. He began to sell cemeteries at his family's three cemeteries in Rome. Mr. Dempsey then became involved with the state and regional associations of the industry, where he learned more.

Dempsey worked full-time for his family's company while earning a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Shorter College. Dempsey held numerous board positions at the Georgia Cemetery Association, Southern Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association, and International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association. Dempsey was a past president of the first two associations. Dempsey has received his CCFE and CCrE certifications from the ICCFA. This means that he can be recognized as a Certified Funeral and Cemetery Executive and Certified Cremation executive for their contributions to the industry and his community. He also received the Quarter Century Award from the ICCFA for his participation in the funeral business. Recently Mr. Dempsey graduated from the ICCFA University in 2019, being an industry education program.
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Mr. Dempsey to be the State Board of Cemeterians' first chairman in 2008. The board oversees legislative and regulatory matters and regulates over 216 state-owned perpetual care cemeteries. Dempsey founded Georgia Cremation Centers in 2013. This was later renamed Leaf Cremation. It was founded to provide a more cost-effective alternative to funeral costs and the highest quality service for families who choose cremation. Dempsey recently opened the new Leaf Cremation Center Columbus in Ohio, and hopes to expand the business throughout the United States. Dempsey is currently a member of the ICCFA Board of Directors and the Legislative Chair for the Cemetery Association.
As an ordained deacon, and as a leader of missions teams, Mr. Dempsey has been active in his church. Since 2001, Mr. Dempsey leads a mission team to Sesheke in Zambia every year to help a poor church. Dempsey received his Eagle Scout Award through the Boy Scouts of America. He has continued to be active in the Scouting program all his adult life. Dempsey is a Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce graduate of the Adult Leadership program. He enjoys playing golf, traveling internationally, and spending quality time with his family.
Melanie is the wife of Clift, and they have four children: Clifton Pierce Wyn, Wyn, Wyn, and Mac. Charlie Anderson and Anderson are their grandsons. Callie and Baxter are the family pets.
