ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

William Weidinger - Goldsmith & Jewelry Design Gemstone jewelry has always been my passion. I was a pupil in the mid-1950s and have loved jewelry. My father broke his jewelry tools several times, and he was an amazing man. I learned to make jewelry during my years in the local school system. I wanted more from my amateur knowledge. In high school, my art teacher created my first gold ring. She said, "You will need special tools for this." That was the end of my jewelry-making career. I have been smiling ever since it happened. After graduating from Ohio State University in 1969 with a degree in art education, I started creating jewelry for the Student Union Craft Shop. Initially, I made brass belt buckles. Rings and pendants as well as earrings made of sterling and gold followed. I created and sold my work at a few small boutiques and to close friends at first. I sold my work later at some retail stores in Columbus, Florida, Washington DC, and New York. One of my most vivid memories was when a pair of my friends asked me to make them their wedding bands. Around 1970, I realized I needed some serious jewelry-making equipment. I simply walked into the OSU metalworking lab at Hopkins hall. Professor Duncan was quite impressed by my intrusion. But he did not expel me from the room. He was just annoyed as I didn't know how to use his buffing machine correctly. A couple of weeks later, Professor Duncan asked me if I could start a series of jewelry-making classes. Don Duncan influenced how I think about and design jewelry. He showed me how to create my product. It was a miracle that I could create a workshop on High Street across from the Agora. One goal of my design and jewelry studio was to create designs that were unique and individualized for my community and the larger one of which I am a part. I try to make a living from something that I can believe in and be proud of. It is a simple and genuine concept. Nearly 50 years later, my workshop continues to operate thanks to a lot of luck and goodwill. We manufacture all the parts of the jewelry, except the pendant chains, in our shop. Initially, I wanted to learn how to make beautiful things in the metal shop. I followed this by studying gemology. I have a sense of balance and harmony that I use to create jewelry that honors the most important and beautiful moments in people's lives. I love to imagine those moments and then to create the jewelry that commemorates them. Along with our personal attention, this is how we help our clients find the right piece for them. Helping our clients understand what makes the best gemstone for them helps them make informed decisions to achieve happier lives. I have a lot of experience in colored stones and diamonds. My wife is a GIA Graduate Gemologist, as is my son Andy. I wouldn't be here without them. We have been collecting good stones for many years. We know you will enjoy this collection as much as we do. We look forward to meeting you soon and providing you with good jewelry.
