I have been defrauded by a contractor who promised to remodel my home into a duplex. Despite giving him a substantial amount of money, totaling over $79,000, he has not performed any of the agreed-upon work. I possess several photographs as evidence of his lack of progress. The contractor provided me with supposedly legitimate documents, claiming to have insurance, bonding, and a license. However, upon investigation, I discovered that these documents were fraudulent, and he had deceived me to obtain all the money I had provided. He argues that he has been maintaining the property by cutting and mowing the grass, among other tasks. However, I had already hired a separate company to handle such maintenance because he was failing to complete any actual work. I did not pay him such a significant amount of money solely for yard upkeep. My expectation was that my home would be completed within three months, but it has been over two years, and he still has my money. While he has done some framing, he never obtained the necessary permits for any of the work done on the house. Furthermore, upon inspection by an architect, it was discovered that the work he did complete was incorrect and did not follow the required specifications. It is truly disappointing to learn that he failed to install a crucial firewall as well. Had he completed the job as promised, it would have posed serious safety concerns. Therefore, I demand a full refund of the money I have paid him.
$79k of work never done. He will run off with your money.
