Jean Richardson is a well-known American artist famous for her large abstract horse paintings. I take the real horse and convert it into a metaphorical image in my paintings. This powerful animal represents the human spirit. It can be unrestrained and pure. They can be heroic. Other times, they are restless waves of energy. However, this is not an original idea. The horse has always been central to the narratives of every civilization. The horse is the most universally recognized symbol in the visual arts. Artists have depicted it from the earliest cave painting to Norse Mythology to modern plays like "Equus".
