About C.O.P.S Driving Academy The C.O.P.S Driving Academy founders, Tony Hancock and Thomas Collins, have a combined 61 years of experience as officers of the law. They wanted to use their knowledge to teach the new generation the skills and habits that could prevent crashes and keep them secure. It was only fitting that Tony Hancock and Thomas Collins started to teach new drivers after a full career in law enforcement.  Two of South Carolina's nine Master instructors educate teenagers on the rules of road. Our instructors have succeeded in law enforcement or highway safety for many years. They do not teach driver education as a side job. The following are some of our instructors' qualifications: Tony Hancock is a retired South Carolina Highway Patrol Captain with 33 years of experience in highway traffic safety. He was the South Carolina Department of Education's safety liaison for five years. He taught classes and held training sessions for school bus drivers, students, and other staff members.
