Revolutions Bicycle Co Op opened shop in June of 2002 in the basement of First Congo at 1000 South Cooper St. The goal of this Memphis, Tennessee-based company is to save the world, one bike at a time. The company built a shop that summer to allow people to restore and recycle bicycles. The name Revolutions fit perfectly because they wanted to help all Memphians get bicycles that worked well. They particularly aimed to help the working poor of Memphis. The shop wanted to be a place where people could acquire the expertise and tools they needed to keep bicycles on the move. More than that, they believed they had to keep one bicyclist at a time moving to heal the world. Many years on, Revolutions is still about people and bicycles.
