YWCA of Greater Memphis

Having opened our doors in 1919, YWCA of Greater Memphis has strived to serve women and girls throughout the generations. This organization came into being during a period of intense gender inequality towards women as opportunities were limited. During that time, women could not vote or sit on juries. The YWCA Greater Memphis has always been at the forefront of civil rights and was one of the pioneer organizations in Memphis with integrated leadership and membership. Over 100 years down the line, we are still on a mission. Creating change and addressing the issues that continue to affect women even today, like safety, equal pay, racial justice, and economic empowerment and advancement. We urge you to come along as we work to eliminate barriers, empower families and women and better serve our community in the Greater Memphis area.
