ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

About the Company: Cloud Tree Studios & Gallery Cloud Tree is an art space and gallery in East Austin, TX. Our gallery hosts local artists and features rotating exhibits. We are also home to established artist studios and an event space. Gallery hours are 12-5 on weekdays and by appointment on Sundays. About the Artist Brian David Johnson is a furniture maker and artist. With the help of his sister, Laura Lynn Johnson, he reimagined the Quonset hut and moved the 15-year-old Splinter Group workshop. The gallery was then opened with studios in the loft. Brian appreciated the massive canopy of the old oak tree that hung over East 5th, so he named it Cloud Tree. This space is meant to be a lively and relaxed cultural environment, a place to show your best work, and a place to stay sane and be able to afford to have community celebrations and events.

SUMMARY   Reviews Summary

Reviewers described Cloud Tree as a hidden gem. It is located on East 5th Street in Austin and may be of concern as its streets have been rapidly changing to make space for new developments. The place is a hybrid that operates as both a gallery and artist studio complex. The studios are hidden behind gallery walls, many of which double as large installations saying and that you can clearly see them from the street. A reviewer once mentioned that Blue Genie was of concern with many saying that it is a lousy place saying that it is hard to tell if the studio is open or just someones workspace. There is about eight studios. This reviewer said there were only about eight studios. Most are open event despite renovations. Most are open event despite renovations this is what they are and what do in contrast to the elaborate work seen in the gallery there is only one studio that has any work in it. This studio is work by Sam Bassett when the painters are done with their works you can buy their art. There are wooden sculptures for sales and it was easy to find what I was looking for. People want to buy things for their homes especially their kitchen for about 400 and bam. Materials and works dominate the narrators description of urban transformation. Brian Johnson craftsworks Porter thing that painting is gone and artists do not dominate and are turning to making things. Austin is under pressure and artists have followed creators. Cloud tree studios is another business that will be forced to move to a new location. Kelly and Kristina Robinson are new studio owners will have to find a new studio and need a new studio. Austin is turning into a development frenzy. Cloud tree will have a big promise for redevelopment because all those developments do include some gallery in the first commercial space. There will be a lot of opportunities on this discussion and it is said that you will eventually see a show here because that is the only way in. Gallery presenter Jana Swec said that it was exclusive and a creative space when renovations are completed. Everything seems to be locked and it is less crowded with jewelers textile artists and woodwork artists.
