ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Austin Driving School has been operating since 1977 on a famous Sixth Street in Austin. The school’s fleet of cars has evolved along with its location. From the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Buick Century, and Ford Pinto, they’re now using Toyota Corollas. Austin Driving School no longer occupies Sixth Street, and now operates in Far South, South, and North Austin. The real draw of Austin Driving School is its famed burro. He is present in every driver's education vehicle. Although some people mistakenly recognize this as a rabbit, it remains a mystery how this burro learned to pilot a car. Ed the driver is a familiar sight in Austin’s driver’s training vehicles, teaching teenagers to drive and then their children and grandchildren. Since they met when the couple walked out of their wedding ceremony, Ed had already sat on top of their car. As of the time Austin Driving School was founded, Ed the burro has been a constant part of its history. However, the main reason for the company’s success is its instruction in defensive driving and road safety. Although it can teach a burro how to drive, a burro cannot fully appreciate the cognitive aspects of driving. Defensive driving and safety are the main features of Austin Driving School, and this is what sets them apart from their competitors.
