Dr. James A. Caplin MD was a man of unstoppable will. He founded a charity, Southwest Allergy and Asthma Foundation, and ran the Corpus Christi Allergy and Asthma Center and Morgan Pediatric Center and Morgan Pediatric Asthma and Allergy Center. Dr. Caplin was a community-oriented healthcare provider, facilitating accessible care and participating in local and international charity events. His keenness to impart knowledge was evident in his seven-year training of Dr. Alma S. Rigonan in allergy, dermatology, and asthma. Dr. Caplin's company aims to carry on his legacy by focusing on patient care and rendering its services worldwide. Dr. Caplin, who died in November 2020, served as the co-founder and president of the aforementioned companies for 35 years. He hailed from Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1960. Indiana University later awarded his Bachelor of Arts, Doctorate of Medicine, and Master of Business Administration degrees. Dr. Caplin completed his pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida, following a one-year internship at Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Indianapolis. Lastly, he undertook two sub-speciality training fellowships in Allergy-Immunology/Dermatology at the renowned Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas. Always at the forefront, Dr. Caplin adopted the electronic health records program in 1975 and embraced technological advancements. A member of The American College of Allergy Asthma & Immunology, the American Medical Association, The Nueces County Medical Society, The Texas Medical Association, and The National Psoriasis Foundation, Dr. Caplin also published various medical research papers. Dr. Caplin was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army in Vietnam.
